Is it true that tampons aren't recommended for girls and women with disabilities? And is it true that cotton tampons are preferred over the normal brands?

Hi, I'm 20 and have Asperger Syndrome (High-Functioning Autism). I usually use tampons when I'm on my period, but I've heard that tampons aren't recommended for girls and women with certain disabilities (like Autism Spectrum Disorders) because of risk of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome). Is that true? I've also heard that cotton tampons are preferr.......

Question about irregular periods

Even on bc pills, my period has often been irregular, and prone to fluctuating by four-six days even (I always seemed to 'sync up' with roommates and so forth).
