I\u2019ve been using menstrual cups since July 2013, and they\u2019re AWESOME!  They\u2019re definitely better than the pads and tampons I used for umpteen years.<\/p>\n

Just when I thought period protection couldn\u2019t get any better, I was blessed with the opportunity to try a Lunette Cup\u2026and it was A GAME CHANGER.  Before I share why, here are a few facts about the cup in case you\u2019re not familiar with it:<\/p>\n

– Up to 12 hours of leak-free protection<\/p>\n

– Can\u2019t be felt when inserted correctly<\/p>\n

– Can be worn overnight<\/p>\n

– Not associated with Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)<\/a><\/p>\n

– Menstrual flow is captured and held in the cup until you remove and empty it — which means no scent<\/p>\n

– It\u2019s reusable, which makes it environment and budget-friendly<\/p>\n

* Can last up to 10 years with proper care and use<\/p>\n

* One-time cost is around $40 online (including here at www.bepreparedperiod.com<\/a>), which can save you more than $100 per year.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My Personal Experience with Lunette Cup<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

I used the Lunette Cup for the first time two periods ago.  From the start, I could tell it was quite different from other brands.  Here\u2019s why:<\/p>\n

– It\u2019s sturdier;<\/p>\n

– It\u2019s easier to clean since the air holes are slightly larger, the inside is completely smooth, and the stem is solid (as opposed to hollow); and last, but not least,<\/p>\n

– The cup popped open with minimal effort and didn\u2019t require the usual twists and turns.<\/p>\n


\nThe First Try (aka Trial # 1)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

This is definitely not a \u201clove at first use\u201d story.  I experienced a serious learning curve thoroughout that first period.  For instance, I discovered that insertion methods used for one brand\u2019s cup may not work so well with others.  There was also the discovery that the stem could cause serious discomfort unless I trimmed it\u2026a few times.  Last, but not least, was the lovely proof that improper insertion \/ placement really could<\/em> result in leaks.  Ugh!<\/p>\n

Thankfully, when I shared my woes with Be Prepared Period\u2019s Tara Bruley (the site\u2019s wonderful founder), she provided tips on different insertion methods that could make a difference.  Due to this and glowing product reviews from others, I decided to give the cup another chance.<\/p>\n


\nHow I Fell in Love (aka Trial # 2)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

When my next period started, I grabbed the cup, trimmed its stem down to the very last guide line, and used the “Punch down<\/a>\u201d fold (aka \u201cShell\u201d fold) before insertion.  After that, I checked every few hours to see if there were any leaks, and there weren\u2019t any.  Yay!  Success!<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how things went during the rest of my period:<\/p>\n

– I made it the full 12 hours with no leaks on days 1 and 3 – 7.<\/p>\n

– On day 2, my heaviest flow day, I only had to empty the cup at 8-hour intervals.<\/p>\n

– It took a lot less time than it did with other cups to complete the whole removal\u2013reinsertion process.  Woo-hoo!!!<\/p>\n

– Really, REALLY LOVED how quick and easy it was to clean the cup, especially the air holes.  Heck\u2026  I didn\u2019t even feel the need to switch to disposable cups for my light days (as I had in the past) to avoid hassle.<\/p>\n

– Last, but not least, I kept forgetting I was on my period.  Why?  Because I didn\u2019t have to worry about leaks, didn\u2019t have to empty the cup as often as pad\/tampon changes, couldn\u2019t feel the cup inside me, and didn\u2019t have to alter my schedule or activites.<\/p>\n

\"Andrina<\/a>What can I say?  I absolutely love, love, LOVE my LUNETTE CUP<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong\u2026I\u2019m still very fond of the other cups I\u2019ve tried; but, this one\u2019s my favorite!  It has definitely earned \u201cSuper Drina\u2019s Seal of Approval!\u201d   <\/strong>\ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/p>\n
