Is anything more stressful than worrying about the possibility of a leak? \u00a0How can anyone focus on learning in class, performing on the field, or talking to your friends when a leak could happen at any time?<\/p>\n

Whether you are getting ready for your first period, have had your period a few times, or have been menstruating for years the following tips will help you wave goodbye to leaks.<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0 Know Your Flow<\/strong>.\u00a0 Be extra prepared on your heaviest days then relax once they have passed. (Not sure how to measure your flow \u2013 check out our Know Your Flow Infographic<\/a> to decipher your level of flow.)<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0 In Your Hands<\/strong>.\u00a0 Put your supplies in your purse<\/a>, backpack or whatever you will carry in your hands into the bathroom.\u00a0 Think about what you will probably need then add one or two more.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0 Be on Time.\u00a0 <\/strong>Plan to visit the restroom to change (or at least check) regularly.\u00a0 Always set the time between breaks to be a little less than you think you need based on that day\u2019s flow (and never skip a planned visit).<\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0 Get Dark<\/strong>.\u00a0 Of course you can\u2019t see very well when it gets dark outside.\u00a0 Dark colors do an amazing job of hiding any evidence of leaks.<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0\u00a0 More is Merrier<\/strong>.\u00a0 Layers are a fashion statement and so much more.\u00a0 No one else will ever see if you leak on anything other than your outermost layer of clothing.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>6)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Tight is Right.\u00a0 <\/strong>There is a reason some people talk about \u201cperiod panties.\u201d If you use pads, wearing extra tight or super snug panties keeps the pad in place even when you\u2019re in motion.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

7)\u00a0\u00a0 Don\u2019t Fly Away.\u00a0 <\/strong>The last thing you want is for your pad to shift or bunch.\u00a0 Try using wings to keep it from flying away (or scooting where you don\u2019t want it to be).\u00a0 Consider wearing long or overnight pads during the day for maximum coverage and protection.<\/p>\n

8)\u00a0\u00a0 Inside Insight.<\/strong> If you use a tampon<\/a> or a cup<\/a>, wear a pantyliner<\/a> or a pad<\/a> along with it.<\/p>\n

9)\u00a0\u00a0 Secret Stash<\/strong>.\u00a0 Keep additional supplies in your locker.\u00a0 This is a great place for a few extra items and even a change of clothes in case you (or a friend) are ever in need.<\/p>\n

10)\u00a0 Dynamic Duo<\/strong>.\u00a0 Confide in a friend.\u00a0 Be there for each other, especially during your periods (it is much easier and less obvious for her to check that there is nothing on your backside).<\/p>\n

The truth is simple: there is no magical way to be sure you will never ever have a leak.\u00a0 These tips will help you decrease your worry, improve your confidence, and lessen the likelihood of leaking.\u00a0 If you follow this advice and still manage to have a leak away from home the odds are good that no one else will ever know (unless you tell them).<\/p>\n
