Hi dad! We know you might be feeling overwhelmed if your child  just hit puberty and is starting their first period. It can be awkward, uncomfroatble, and you might worry about being embarrassed. We wanted to share this touching story with you. Read on to learn more!

Hi! My name is Jon and I’m raising my daughter alone. Her mother is still in the picture, though just once per year in the summertime, and several thousand miles away at that. They’re not very close with each other for various reasons… she just doesn’t trust her mom, although her mom does seem to be trying to build a new relationship the best way she knows how. It accomplishes little from so far away though, not being here, active in our daughter’s life, and their contact is very infrequent.

I’m reaching out to you because of the many places I’ve visited on the web to help me prepare for what has been described to me as a tsunami that is headed in my general direction, your site looks to me like a great & full resource for my daughter (and I) to utilize when the time is right. In my case, before the time is right… I need to be prepared. Period. Eh? You probably get that all the time…

I know my little sweetie. I rescued her, brought her home full-time where I wiped away her tears of abandonment for a long time while we sat and held hands and talked it all out a hundred times. Fast forward a few years later, to now, and she’s incredibly confident…. just the star of her own little show, spreading laughter and happiness and love everywhere she goes like a lighthouse in the dark, shining brightly through the fog, helping people find their way. Unless she’s in a bad mood… Then watch out! ☺

Anyways. Maybe it sounds sad, but she’s my best friend and my whole reason for being, and I really, really don’t want to screw this up! I want her to remain happy, healthy, confident, and for her to have all the privacy she needs once her first period begins. Most importantly though, I want her/us to have all of the tools we will need and want to get through it together. In order for that to happen, I need to be educated & informed. From what I’ve read here, you are able to offer invaluable tips, natural remedies, and everything else a girl could need to menstruate with ease… for lack of a better way to put it at the moment. This seems like a great place to help her along and that we can use for an extended period. Ha! That was totally unintentional. I bet ya’ll get really sick of period jokes!

Well it’s new to me so that was funny. Do you have any resources for single dads? She’s a little young still (just turned 11) to take advantage of all that I’m sure you have to offer here, but I can be prepared. I must, for her sake. For both our sakes! End life story journal entry. Sorry for making this so long! Thank you in advance for reading, and thank you also for creating a place like this for girls and women! You have a great story.

Jon O., 35, Everett WA.
