Period after IUD

I had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my right tube in 2012 and since then I was on the mirena IUD for 2 years. With my IUD I never had a period just cramping when my period was supposed to come. I got it removed about 4 months ago, all my periods were regular 5 days every 30 days. I had my period the 16th for 5 days and then on the 31st I started bleeding AGAIN like I’m on my period. So far its been 2 days. I don’t know if it’s because I’m missing my tube or if it’s because of the IUD or maybe I had a chemical pregnancy? Can you shine any light on this for me? Please!

 Hi Bonnie!

After stopping any form of birth control your body needs time to get back into balance. You may take more time as you didn't experience a period while on the IUD.

This perhaps could have thrown your hormones out of whack. If you continue to bleed irregularly or have very heavy bleeding, I would suggest going to your doctor, where they can test hormone levels.

You could try charting your basal body temperature everyday to see if in fact you're ovulating- not ovulating could have an impact on bleeding/spotting between periods.

Hope this helps!

Robyn
